9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
In this verse we find that John had been arrested and found guilty of preaching the Gospel. Research this further and you will find that John survived being boiled in oil first. How much are you willing to suffer for the cause of the Gospel?
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; 13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
John had not only walked with and was taught by Jesus for over three years, because he had suffered for the truth, he was privy to be the LORD´s messenger. We must remember why John was given this honor, it was not cheap.
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
I have been the member of two Baptist Church Families when the Golden Lamp-stands were removed. When that happens the LORD is no longer blessing that assembly and Worship is no longer received by God and it is miserable. When we select a church building to meet in we must not choose the building but judge, carefully, the teacher and the family attitude there. If there is a two edged sword coming out of our LORD´s mouth ad best avoid Ear Ticklers.
19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; 20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
Just as we find in Daniel, there are real Angels amongst us. There is an Angle of the LORD in every church that teaches the truth of the Gospel and if they do not teach the Hell Fire and Brimstone truth, there is no golden candlestick and the angel s replaced by Satan´s demons.
God bless and happy LORD´s Day.

Part 2, Revelation 1
4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; (KJV)
In this verse we see John is addressing the seven Churches that would be found in, I believe, what we call Asia Minor today. It is popular to also apply these statements to the different time spans of the growing Church from the death of the Christ until now. That would place us, today, in the Laodicean Church Age... I agree! This makes all of what Jesus said to John relevant to us.
5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
We notice in the (b) portion of 4 and the (a) portion of 5 that the greeting and wish for Grace is from nine individuals, Jesus, John and the seven Spirits (Angels) of the seven Churches that can also be found standing (in audience?) at the foot of the Throne of God. In the latter part of 5 we see the credentials of our LORD and King, Jesus, the Messiah. And then we see the portion of this chapter that is, perhaps, the most debated, every one of us that has taken Jesus and have accepted being cleansed by His Blood is a King and a Priest, directly responsible to our Holy Father, God the Father!
Each and every one of us has direct access to he Father, through the Son of God. That is not only an honor, it is also an Eternal responsibility!
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
In verse 7 we find the reason John and the members of the Early Church were always on alert, expecting the return of the Son at any moment and the very reason we, every one of us must also stand ready. Jesus will return with the clouds, just as He left! This could have been so at any point during the past twenty centuries and it is even more possible today as we approach the end of the sixth day.
A point worth noting is that in this verse we see that Jesus will be visible, live, to all the world when He returns. Before the recent past this has not been possible but today, with the ability to broadcast live television around the globe it is a well practiced event.
8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. 9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
In verse 8 we find our brother, John, quoting the Master! Not only is Jesus the beginning and the ending, He is the Almighty, (John 1:1-3) Creator of everything that is. Then in verse 9 Brother John begins to explain how he came to be locked away on Patmos. And in verse 10 he explains that he had slipped into the spirit on Sunday and these things were revealed to him.

Intro to Revelations
The book of The Revelation of Jesus, the Christ is an essential book for any follower of the Christ to read, to understand as much as he or she possibly can and to consider and to meditate on what cannot, yet, be understood. My class at Church. The Grumpy Old Men´s Class has chosen to examine this book over, at least, the next 13 week period. My messages will likely be influenced by this study and I am hopeful that my prayer for my neighbor, Mark, to be attracted to attend over this period.
In the first chapter we find some interesting reading and food for thought. This book is largely ignored by the New Testament Christians of today because it so heavily refers to the Old Testament and it is written in the same fashion or manor as the tenth Chapter of Daniel. Some say that the book is written to and to record the events of the Church in John´s time and has no value for the Church today. It is true that it was important for the Church of the First Century but Jesus also clearly stated that the events of all the book were soon to occur.
One of the most divisive things in Christianity is that Time Table given in the Revelation of Jesus. I recently read, Heaven Is For Real, the story of a four year old Pastor´s son that died on the Operating Table for 3 minutes. In those three minutes He met his father´s Pops, who had died years before his birth, sat in Jesus´ lap, met God the Father and much more, proving my long held belief that there is no Heavenly relationship with our Time/Space Continuum! Jesus taught us that a day is like unto a thousand years (Psa. 90:4) causing us to consider, of necessity, our thinking of time.
As we study, learn and consider the truths we fiend in the scriptures we also notice that God seems to consider completion in relation to seven. My point here is that if a day is like unto a thousand years, the time from God´s Creation of the earth until the advent of the birth of Jesus is four days and it has been about two days since His Death on the cross and as all Christians know, Christ rules the last day before the Earth is consumed by fire and recreated for Heaven to descend and be found there.
Folks, blessed is the man or woman that studies this book and there is little to no time left to study with.

Live Like You Mean It
Jer. 40:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after that Nebuzar–adan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon. * 2 And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The Lord thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place. 3 Now the Lord hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you. (KJV)
In chapter forty of Jeremiah we find an unsaved Gentile correcting a faithful Jew. This Babylonian was both right and wrong, depending on how you read the text! He spoke to Jeremiah, God´s faithful prophet and we must be careful when we read, ¨because ye have sinned.¨ Jeremiah was a Jewish Believer but he was a faithful one and the guilt was not his personally but rather collectively.
Jeremiah had been left in the cistern to die because he told the King and all the people the truth, just the way God had told him to. So, while the sin might not have been his personally, as a member of the Jewish people, the sin was his. This is a hard teaching today because nobody in this society is willing to be accountable for their actions but in the end of it all, every one of us is responsible for not only our actions but also for how our actions affected others! Crying out that my mommy made me do it, to God, will never fly!
Of particular interest in this passage of scripture is the fact that the followers of Jehovah God are being observed. I look around and I see that folks are paying attention to what I am doing and what I have to say, the same is true of you! The world is Spiritually aware and ignorant at the same time and the very moment you proclaim to be a Christian, eyes begin to observe. They watch to see if you are like them or are you different.
I worked for eleven years for the Japanese company, Nippon Express, USA. The Japanese Nationals rotated out to go home every few years and as a result there were always new people coming from Japan to work. I learned from one that in the Arrival Orientation that the new arrivals, Buddhists, were cautioned that if they did not want to learn about Jesus, they should not get close to Bill Taylor. And during my tenor there I know that one, for certain, went home a Christian convert, maybe more. My point is that God has called us to be different and we are not the only ones that know that. When we proclaim the name of Christ and yet live like the Devil, people see that.
I have taken the scriptures that call for me to live a holy life, one separated from the people around me, to be serious and I endeavor to live that way. Today there are News stories about the unfaithful, i.e. Benny Hinn, and the Priests that wreck the lives of you boys and young girls and these lead to TV shows and movies that people accept as being the norm for all Christian believers. Now, I used a name and that is usually not accepted but before you become upset with me, I will not answer replies about that sinner, he needs to deal with his press!
The point is that every single one of us are an influence on every soul we meet or even just cross their path and we need to wake up and live for God or no matter how much we believe in grace, we will all go to hell. Today, we, the righteous, are suffering for the sins of the unrighteous, just as Jeremiah did.
My prayer is for you to live for God, that you might receive the blessing I have.

Inventory of One´s Self
John3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. 18 He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God.”"
Heb.10:24 Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching. 26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries. (WEB)
These two quotes from scripture can feel odd together but in reality, it is always important to remember that the Bible has one author and about forty scribes that recorded the words of God. With that knowledge in hand it is reasonable and understandable to say that no portion of scripture can be understood without the light of all scripture shinning on it.
My point? There are hundreds of millions that believe they are saved for a multitude of reasons when there is only one reason anyone is ever saved and that has nothing to do with ourselves. Although there are many that argue against the truth, that does not make it untrue and the truth is that Jesus, the man without sin, died for our sins.
Oh, great... everyone is going to Heaven! No! Jesus, God in the flesh of a man, taught that many are called but few are saved. (Matt. 7:13 – 15) In fact there are now and there have always been many False Prophets. If a man or a woman does not read the scriptures, on a regular basis, they will never come to understand that the Word of God, the Bible, is living and vibrant. Every time I read the scriptures, from Genesis through the Revelation, I have new mysteries revealed to me by the Holy Spirit.
Now, there I go upsetting folks. A Proff. at a Seminary who was also a Pastor told me not to hand him that Holy Ghost c__p! And as I have made this journey for the past 21 years, I have encountered a large number of people that have no idea of what or who the Holy Gost/Holy Spirit is, in Church and out of Church. That is a distressing point and needs to be examined. The scriptures teach us that when Jesus ascended to be with the Father that His Disciples were overcome/indwelt with the Spirit of God and in the Book of the Acts we see people that are saved are also indwelt with the Holy Spirit. Based on this teaching of the Bible, I do not feel out of line judging folks, as per Matt. 7, and asking them to do a Spiritual Inventory of themselves.
Some of them will find that they were indwelt with the Holy Spirit, the moment they were saved, and have been disobedient by quenching the Spirit. (1Thes. 5:19) These are Carnal Christians but the bulk of all people will find that they are not saved and need to take care of the business. Have You?

Baptism
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
The above words were not, at first, understood by Nicodemus and they are almost never understood by the world today. Jesus was teaching a Religious Leader of the Jews of His time here on Earth. Nicodemus understood the concept of Birth by the Water and most men and all women should easily relate to that breaking of the water as the natural birth. What Nick missed was the Spiritual Birth and he wanted to know how could it be that a man should come forth from his mother the second time.
The young men of today, having received an inferior Education to those of us taught in the past are not able to grasp the context of a paragraph or a chapter today because there is this Fool´s Education built on Rote Memory instead of teaching them to learn how to learn, allowing them the ability to think intelligently. In the case of this passage there is a scholar from the past that wrote Matthew Henry´s Concise Commentary on the Bible and when we look at his work on the third chapter of John, the flow of the text becomes very clear.
If we pay strict attention to the text we see right away that Nick understood that Jesus was talking about being born a second time and when He used the water and compared it to the Spirit, that is exactly what He spoke of. The water birth occurs when the mother´s water breaks and has nothing to do with Salvation. That must come later in life after one realizes their sinful condition and can repent of it.
Folks that are not to sharp on contextual flow, often, make the mistake of concluding that Jesus meant that a man must be baptized for the remission of sins but it is the turning away from one´s sin to follow God (Acts 3:19) that brings about God´s forgiveness, resulting in our Salvation. If a man or a woman will spend about $25 for a hardbound copy of the Nave´s Topical and do the study on Baptism they will clearly see that those teaching Baptismal Remission of sin are wrong, the Bible says so!
I do not hope to ruffle feathers but I do hope to cause study here. God bless!

Where Do You Stand?
Phil. 4:19 And my God shall supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (ASV)
When I became a Christian in 1990, I was riding a bicycle with slick tires ten miles to and from work in the rainy winter of that year, I had not a dime to tithe. But I did, not understanding the tithe I took ten per cent of what was in my pockets and I gave it. I came to understand the tithe better as I studied and today I do not even keep track of all I give and much is given anomalously so that there is no record.
Before that first month was over I was driving myself to and from work and all my bills were being paid in spite of my tithing what I did not have the ability to tithe. Can you out give God? Absolutely not!
According to the News, I am about to be devastated by the possible collapse of my countries government and yet, I cannot find it in myself to be concerned. I am 100% disabled and my wife was forced into retirement so that every dime we have to live on comes from the government... but I know better than that! Everything, not just my money, comes form my God! My God is the one that created everything we see and feel by speaking it into existence, there is no-one as rich as He is and without Him I have nothing but with Him I can stand firmly on my life verse, Psa. 23:1 The LORD is my Shepard and ¨I shall not want.¨
Christianity is a very proactive faith and without that faith, you are lost!
