Rev 22:18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book;
Rev 22:19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.
… There are differing opinions of the implications of this passage of scripture that run from “It only applies to the book of the Revelation,” to “It covers the entirety of the scriptures.” I have chosen the later simply because God has inspired men to record His message in much the same manor as the CEO uses his secretary to record his concerns, thoughts and plans for their company. It is my position that the Bible is the Word of God and that the original texts are inerrant. Further more it is my position that God is, as His Word teaches, omnipotent. (Matt. 19:26) Since God is omnipotent He can do anything and it is His perfect will that none should perish but all should come to repentance and be saved. (2Pet. 3:9) For this reason, God's perfect will, I do not see God allowing men to pollute or to change His Word. The only standing occurrence of this type, to my knowledge is the New World Translation and I know of no follower of Christ that believes anything in that perverted translation.
… From these ***gressive ideologies come a verity teachings that border on or lean into heresy. A very prominent and popular errant teaching is that the fallen angels copulated with the human women from the passage in Gen. 6. In Matt. 22 Jesus has been presented with the idea of a woman marrying seven brothers, all of them dying without giving her a child and these folks want to know whose wife will she be in Heaven? In verse 30 of that chapter Jesus addresses the real issue of the question and explains that, like the Angels, the resurrected will not be having sex.
… The biblical truth that neither man nor the angels will have sexual relation present a set of boundaries on the ability of the angels that must be dealt with to sell this error to a Bible studied man. i.e. The angels are never meant to reproduce and as I will mention later they are spirit beings.
… In spite of the truth of passages like this one, Matthew 22:30, people have, apparently, from the first pinning of the scriptures locked onto what we, today, know as Genesis six and have the fallen angels cohabiting with human women. I see that this could easily grow in the times past because the general public did not read and depended upon others to communicate the truth to them. Today, we are more gifted and are able to research the scriptures and the history of them for ourselves and if we will study to show ourselves approved God will bless us in ways we cannot contain. (2Tim. 2:12-18)
… Bible scholars like H.C. Leupold and Matthew Henry have long taught that the descendants of Seth called themselves and were known as the “Sons of God.” What we have then are the later descendents of Seth, indiscriminately, marrying women for there appearance only and being unequally yoked, things went amiss.
… On this particular teaching there is a well known Pentecostal preacher, Hank Hanegraaph, a.k.a. The Bible Answer Man, that deals with this teaching in a way that I have learned from. Mankind had a place prepared for us by God and is sometimes known as the Time/Space Continuum. To satisfy God's purpose, He gave us physical bodies to live in this three dimensional/timed dimension. We are three dimensional in that we, like everything here have hight, width and depth. In the case of God are taught by our LORD that God is a spirit. (John 4:24, John 1:18, Col. 1:15, 1Tim. 6:16, Rom. 1:20 and 1Tim. 1:17) In Luke 24:39 the risen Jesus has appeared to the disciples and makes the point that He is still in His physical body and can be touched, adding emphasis to the fact that He is no longer a Spirit, as He was in time past.
… In Heb. 1:14, Mark 12:25, Luke 20:36 and 2Sam. 14:20 we learn that the angels, created by God, are spirit beings in the spirit realm, created for God's purposes. So far we have God the Father and the Holy Spirit, the first and the third persons of the Trinity and they are Spirit beings. Jesus, the Son of God, was a spirit being until He was begotten and given birth by Mary. When He ascended into Heaven His physical body went with Him so that we now have all three persons of the Triune God in Heaven and the only one with a physical body is Jesus.
… We know the angels are also spirit beings and like the Holy Spirit and God the Father, they are spirit beings. From the interaction with Abraham and Lot we have learned that the angels can assume the form of a man but can they? 2Pet. 1-4 shows us that God has cast an unknown number of Lucifer's followers into Hell to await the Judgment and the Abyss. Every time we see an angel in the form of a human, i.e. Abraham and Lot, they are on a mission for God. They have been granted extension into our Space/Time Continuum in order to complete the mission they were commissioned to perform. It is important to remember that they never reproduce and it is important to remember that unlike God, they are limited in the power they can use by the Father.
… Being granted extension in time and space by the Father bears greatly on this matter. We know that there is no evil in God and we know that there are no surprise events to God. (1Pet. 1:20, Gal. 4:4) In Job we see that Satan must approach the throne of God to even cause Job to be tested and it logically follows that for angels to impregnate human women, they must be granted extension into time and space by the Father, Who would foreknow their intent and having no evil in Him will never grant this. God will not allow anything that will not in some manor glorify Him.
… What we have here is a good example of just how easily heresy begins. In one recent discussion I was even presented with the fact that God had created Adam in the image of God proving that all spirit beings had sex organs because Adam, created in God's image, had them. Any time that we read into the text of the Bible anything that it does not say we are laying the foundation for someone to build on it and to create a heresy. For this reason I teach and will always teach that we must never add nor subtract from what the scriptures clearly say. Even if a teaching is ancient, if it is not supported by the scriptures, we must not teach it as the Word of God.
